This is so much like learning to knit. At first there is staring at diagrams, and furrowing of brows. A little cursing, and then, Aha! yes, of course! duh! And off I go.
This is actually my second piece of weaving. My first was a little sampler with loopy edges and a few misthreaded warp threads. Once I hit my stride with simple tabby and twill I ripped it off and started the ubiquitous first project, the scarf :D
The warp here is purple cotton fleece that I've had in stash forever, and the warp is the leftover handspun from last year's Tour de Fleece spinning. I love how the different colors in the marled handspun make the plain weave look all heathery and tweedy.
Also in the love column? making a row at a time instead of a stitch at a time. I can see this will be a great way to plow through stash yarn.
I'm still slowly knitting away on some stripy socks and my Vivian cardigan when I'm out of the house. Here's an picture from a week or two ago since I see I haven't blogged about it yet.
I'm just starting the bust increases on Vivian now and really need to take another picture. This is going to be such a great sweater, I'm in love with it already.
After those two knitting projects are done I'll be planning out and starting on a sweater for the lovely lady who gave me the loom. I think I already have the perfect yarn picked out; a new colorway of Kauni in just her colors.

It is so pretty. And I love the loom!
OH! Loving the purples. That will be one gorgeous scarf.
I'm also really liking the tweediness of Vivian. I might have to check that pattern out myself.
And Kauni!? Lovely. :)
